Case Study: York Museums Trust
Collaborating with York Museums Trust to create a marketing brochure for their Teenage Art School inspired by the Young Gainsborough: Rediscovered Landscape Drawings exhibition. This brochure aimed to engage young artists (aged 11-17) by promoting the workshop-based experience that explored how artists respond to place through a combination of AI, text, and image.

Challenge
York Museums Trust needed a creative individual to design a brochure for their Teenage Art School (TAS) workshops. The challenge was to balance artistic expression with effective marketing strategies to capture the attention of young artists (ages 11-17) and drive interest in the workshop.
Results
The brochure successfully generated excitement for the TAS workshops, leading to an overbooked program. Due to high demand, some students were unfortunately turned away, demonstrating the effectiveness of the marketing and the strong interest in the creative experience.
Solution
Designed a visually engaging brochure that not only showcased the Young Gainsborough exhibition but also featured the actual artwork of the artists leading the workshops. By incorporating Jade Montserrat’s, Laura Robertson and Jared Holden’s works, the brochure directly connected the students to the creators they would be working with, sparking excitement and engagement. This approach helped to create a personal and immersive experience from the start.
“The Teenage Art School brochure was a fantastic experience. The creative approach, incorporating the artwork of the artists leading the workshops, truly captured the essence of the program and connected directly with our young audience. The result was an engaging, visually striking design that not only showcased the artistic process but also elevated interest in the workshops. Thanks to this thoughtful marketing, we saw overwhelming demand, with the program becoming overbooked. It was a pleasure to collaborate, and the success speaks for itself.”
Conclusion
The project showcased the power of using artists’ works to engage the target audience while combining artistic design with marketing strategy. This approach not only highlighted the unique qualities of the TAS workshops but also created a direct connection between participants and the artists themselves, resulting in high demand and a successful campaign.
